Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
AlbertaWe are looking for medical sonographers to join our clinics in Whitecourt and Fort McMurray, Alberta. Salary is based on experience and discussed during the interview. A group benefits plan is available.
What you'll do
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations.
- Select appropriate equipment for each examination.
- Perform ultrasound examinations that yield diagnostic information.
- Record and gather ultrasound data, then analyze and report findings to the radiologist in oral and written form.
- Use independent judgment on whether to extend the scope of an examination based on findings.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Evaluate new equipment and products for possible future use.
- Perform preventative maintenance and disinfection of equipment.
- Contribute to developing new techniques for performing examinations.
- Other duties as requested.
What we're looking for
- Completion of an accredited ultrasound degree or post-diploma program, or recognized equivalent.
- Certification with Sonography Canada and active membership.
- Minimum 1 year of full-time post-certification ultrasound experience.
- Eligibility for ACMDTT registration.
- Ability to perform all types of ultrasound procedures on various equipment.
- Vascular and MSK experience is an asset.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to train in a variety of ultrasound examinations, procedures, and equipment.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor under pressure.
- Effective body language and people management skills, with sensitivity around intimate patient contact.
- Satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
